OUR STORY

Rooted in Care
Samantha has always been grounded in helping others. From an early age, she knew that meaningful change starts with feeling seen and safe.
When studying psychology, she learned how creating the right enviroment present and listening could shift everything. The seed was planted.

Grown through Connection
Her clients and travels shaped her path. From community work in South Africa to counselling in the Northwest Territories, Samantha’s journey took her far and wide.
Each place and person taught her that transformation thrives in brave, inclusive spaces.

The Heart of Oak & Acorn Therapy
Samantha grew the practice to provide grounded, meaningful support, reflecting the lessons that shaped her along the way. To her, growth is more than a word - it’s the foundation of everything she does.
She's proud to offer Alberta-wide services for her clients through in-person and secure virtual sessions.
Great therapy starts with a few non-negotiables...
These are the core principles we live by in every session - the heart of how we help you grow.

MEET SAMANTHA
Samantha Gruber | BA, MACP
I'm a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and I've been practicing for over seven years. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and I'm also a trained EMDR Child Specialist. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed, strength-based therapy. I support my clients in building resilience, emotional regulation, and a deeper sense of self-worth.
Before becoming a psychologist, I spent over two years working as a mental health and addictions counselor in the Northwest Territories. That time shaped me profoundly - I worked with diverse populations and developed a lasting respect for both resilience and the power of community.
My integrative approach is rooted in curiosity, care, and connection - qualities I carry with me outside the therapy room as well.
Whether I'm photographing the Northern Lights, exploring new countries, or sipping iced coffee in a snowstorm, I find joy in the little things. Every year, my New Year’s resolution stays the same:
pet more dogs.
